Ashanti Shequoiya, also known by the name Ashanti was born October 13 1979 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a songwriter, singer and actress from The United States. Ashanti was first discovered when she was a teenager and eventually joined Murder Inc. Records in 2002. The same year Ashanti was featured on The Fat Joe's What's Luv? song as well as Ja Rule's Always On Time track. Both of them have become huge hit songs. Her first appearance as a female artist who held the first and second spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and What's Luv?
